Indian cricketing fans were full of praise for the Indian national cricket team, following their seven-wicket victory in a tricky Test encounter against South Africa at the Newlands Cricket Ground. India, batting for the second time, chased the 79-run lead that the Proteas had left behind on Day 2, concluding one of the shortest games the format has witnessed in the cricket-crazy nation. Apart from championing their heroes and poking fun at their neighbours, the Indian online cricket community also celebrated two individuals in particular: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Kohli impressed with the bat again, providing a calm presence amid all the chaos caused by the frantic fall of wickets on Day 1, while Sharma became the first Asian to captain to win a Test match in Cape Town.

Despite Aiden Markram's battling ton on Day 2 of the second Test, India beat hosts South Africa by seven wickets to tie the series 1-1. The visitors had restricted the home side to just 55 runs in the first innings, thanks to Mohammed Siraj's six-wicket haul. India then put nearly a hundred runs between them and their opponents, before a stunning collapse saw the Men in Blue lose six wickets for zero runs to end their first innings on 153 runs. South Africa returned to bat on an incredible Day 1 of the second Test, managing to cut into the lead India had left for them to chase, but lost three wickets attempting to do so.
The situation worsened for South Africa on Day 2, as Jasprit Bumrah knocked six wickets down to restrict the disparaged hosts to a 79-run lead, which India chased down with relative ease.
