After starting his career has a middle-order batter, Rohit Sharma's career took off when he was promoted as an opener and since then, he hasn't looked back.

Along the way, Rohit has achieved some big milestones and also won big matches for Team India.

As the Indian team prepares to take up the West Indies challenge for the ODI series, Rohit is on the verge of setting up a huge milestone that will see him surpass all-time cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Ricky Ponting.

At present, Rohit Sharma's stat in the ODI cricket is phenomenal. He has 9825 runs and is 175 runs away from reaching 10,000 runs in the 50-over format. If the Indian skipper does manage to achieve the feat, he will take the second spot in the list to be the quickest to reach 10,000 runs.

The numero uno in the list is none other than Virat Kohli who completed the feat in 205 innings. In comparison, Tendulkar, Ganguly and Ponting took 259, 263 and 266 innings to reach the milestone, respectively.

Rohit has 236 innings to his name in the ODI format. The Mumbai-born batter might not take over King Kohli in the list but could take up the second spot on it.

Sourav GANGULY: 263
Ricky PONTING: 266
