The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) agreed to extend the deadline till July 22 for sending the names of Indian wrestlers for the Asian Games. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had sought time till August 5.

For other participating countries, the deadline still remains as the initial July 15 to send the names for the event starting September 23 in Hangzhou, China.

The IOA heads, including President PT Usha and Joint Secretary Kalyan Chaubey had attended OCA's General Assembly in Bangkok, where they were granted the one-week extension under 'special circumstances'.

"The IOA officials tried their best, but the OCA gave a week's extension and that too they (OCA) said was being granted under exceptional circumstances. So, this is the final and we have to send names of our wrestlers by July 22," a source close to IOA ad-hoc committee said.

The six wrestlers, who were protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, had requested Usha to seek extension so that they could regain fitness for the Asian Games and World Championship trials.

In another request, Usha had asked the OCA to allow the IOA to hold trials by August 10.
