Inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals entered their first IPL final in 14 years with a resounding seven-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Friday. Chasing a tricky target of 158 runs in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2022, Royals reached home with 11 balls to spare. Sanju Samson & Co. face debutants Gujarat Titans in the final on Sunday at the same venue.
And the heroes of the match were Jos Buttler, who hit an unbeaten 106 off 60, laced with 10 fours and six sixes and pacers Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy, who claimed three wickets each after Samson won the toss and opted to bowl first. Buttler has now hit five centuries in IPL, four of those this season.
RCB superstars once again failed with youngster Rajat Patidar (who else!) top-scoring for the team (58 off 42). Faf du Plessis & Co. managed only 157/8 on a tricky top, and it proved too little against an inspired RR batting line-up. The final will be a replay of Qualifier 1 which was won by Gujarat Titans. Match starts 8:00 PM IST. And there will be a 45-minute long closing ceremony feat. music maestro AR Rahman, and Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Urvashi Rautela. Catch highlights and cricket scores of RR vs RCB.
