Mumbai Indians' (MI) Australian import Cameron Green brought up his maiden T20 hundred, scoring a 47-ball hundred against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Mumbai on Sunday.
Chasing 201 to win, MI lost Ishan Kishan (14) early and in walked Green at No. 3. Rohit Sharma, who himself has been struggling to get among runs in this IPL season, looked like his old self, as he went on to score 56 off 37 balls before being dismissed. The pair put on a match-winning 128-run partnership.
Green, however, kept on with his momentum, striking the ball with sheer power, finding gaps and hitting over the boundary rope.
Coming into this match, Green had scored two half-centuries for MI in 13 matches while averaging 40.
Green's preceding reputation for his all-round abilities prompted the Mumbai-based franchise to belligerently throw bids on him at the IPL Auction, as they shelled out a massive 17.5 crores.
Green's innings against SRH comprised eight fours and as many sixes. He reached his half-century in just 20 balls and never looked back.
