Anirban Lahiri continued to be tied for 8th after the first two rounds of the International Series England Golf Championship after shooting a 2-under 69 to go with his opening round of 70.
On another dreary day with light showers, Lahiri trailed the leaders Jason Kokrak (67-69) and David Puig (70-65) by three shots. Gaganjeet Bhullar shot a disappointing 76 in the first round before shooting an outstanding second round of 4-under 67 to comfortably finish in tied-for-39th position. Ajeetesh Sandhu (71-72) and veteran Jyoti Randhawa, who shot 74-71 to guarantee weekend participation in Tied-62nd place, both made the cut as well.
Lahiri, whose last triumph on the Asian Tour was in 2015, had a 2-under 69 with four birdies and two bogeys. In his round of 67, Bhullar had seven birdies, one bogey, and one double bogey.
A dozen Indians missed the cut and they included SSP Chawrasia (75-71), Karandeep Kochhar (77-70), S Chikkarangappa (76-71), Rashid Khan (73-75), Jeev Milkha Singh (74-75), Shiv Kapur (75-74), Viraj Madappa (79-71), Khalin Joshi (74-76), Honey Baisoya (78-72), Veer Ahlawat (78-76), Rahil Gangjee (77-77) and Kartik Sharma, who retired in the second round, missed the cut.
Young Spanish golfer David Puig produced a five-under 66 without making a bogey to tie for the lead at halfway. Playing for the first time in his professional career, he made five birdies in his first eight holes before finishing with a par to take the lead at six under.
