Tim Southee of New Zealand is a doubt for the ICC Cricket World Cup after breaking a bone in his right thumb in the fourth One-Day International against England on Friday at Lord's.
Southee suffered the injury while attempting to take a catch in England's 14th over.
“A timeline for his recovery will be established tomorrow when he undergoes further assessment,” New Zealand said.
Southee has been named to New Zealand's 15-man roster for the World Cup in India, which kicks off on October 5 against defending champion England in a rematch of the 2019 final.
Southee will compete for a spot in the New Zealand team alongside Trent Boult, Matt Henry, and Lockie Ferguson if he makes it to the World Cup.
