Aditi Kumari, Neha Sangwan, Pulkit and Mansi Lather were all crowned the U-17 World Champions. The thing that stood out in the final bouts of all these wrestlers was the ease with which they wrapped up the gold medals.
Neha Sangwan, a young wrestler from Vinesh Phogat's native village of Balali in Haryana, triumphed in the women's 57kg category.
The 17-year-old from Haryana defeated Japan's So Sutsui in the final bout by technical superiority to be crowned as the champion.
Aditi emerged champion in the 43kg category, as she breezed past Maria Louiza Gkika of Greece 7-0 in the title clash. In the 65kg final, Pulkit faced Daria Frolova, who is competing as a neutral athlete, and won 6-3 after conceding some late points.
Lather pinned her rival Hanna Pirskaya, another neutral athlete, to win the title. Lather had already raced to a 5-0 lead before ending the bout in style.
Two more women remain in gold medal contention with Kajal (69kg) and Shrutika Shivaji Patil (46kg) set to compete in the final on Friday after making the finals.
The medal rush could continue as three more remain in bronze medal contention. Raj Bala (40kg) will compete in the bronze play-off while Muskan (53kg), Rajnita (61kg) are still in the fray for podium finishes thanks to repechage round.
The formidable show from the Indian youngsters has helped the contingent bag the women's team title even though they did not participate in the 49kg category.
India also made inroads in the Greco Roman style as Ronak Dahiya (110kg) and Sainath Pardhi (51kg) finished on podiums with bronze medals in their respective weight categories.
