Still 19, but there is little doubt in anybody's mind that Shafali Verma is destined for greatness. A brilliant batter and an effective bowler, Verma has already played one short of 50 T20Is and is likely to shoulder Indian Women's Cricket for years to come

If the evergreen Harmanpreet Kaur is at one end of the spectrum that is Indian Women's Cricket, then the other end if inhabited by the prodigious Shafali Verma. Verma, 19, is already a significant member of her national team across all formats and is likely to occupy that position for the decades to come. While there are no doubts that the all-rounder is detined for the top, there are many who, perhaps rightfully, agree that she is already there.  (Cricket News | 2023 ODI World Cup)

Outlook India has joined hands with Oriflame in highlighting the lesser-told stories of sporting triumph amid adversity, via the 'Pitching Glory' initiative. Verma is a part of a series of players that will feature in the initiative. You can watch the video describing Verma's exponentially burgeoning career so far below.

The cricketing forums have been abuzz with conversations regarding Verma's potential for some time now. Earlier this year, however, the youngster delivered on her promise and proved that talk of her growing into one of the best to ever grace the sport is not empty; in January, she led the India U-19 Women's National Team to its first tile in the ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup, playing a crucial role in her side's triumph.

Mere months before her World Cup victory, Verma had become the youngest women's cricketer to complete 1000 runs in T20 internationals. Since then, she has been a part of the senior Indian set-up, where she grows in importance with each passing day.
