In the latest development, CAS has accepted her application and the hearing is underway. The final decision will be taken before the end of the Games.

The Indian golfer Aditi Ashok and Diksha Gagar seek a teeing off as the final round of the Golf individual stroke play gets underway at the Paris Olympics. A dominant display from Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia showcasing extreme skill and athletic ability won the gold medal in the Men's marathon of Paris Olympics 2024.

Tola who is the 2022 world champion and Rio 2016 10,000m bronze medallist, crossed the line with an Olympic record time of 2:06.26.

Silver goes to Bashir Abdi. He finished third at Tokyo 2020 and at the 2022 world championships. Benson Kipruto claimed the bronze on his Olympic debut.

Reetika lost her quarterfinal match by a score of 1-1, with the tiebreaker decided by the last technical points scored. She will now have to wait for the top seed to reach the final in order to compete in the repechage for a medal.

Serbia beat Germany 93-83 to claim the bronze medal in the men’s basketball competition. Nikola Jokic was Serbia’s joint-highest scorer with 19 points.

The much-awaited verdict on Vinesh Phogat's Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) hearing in Paris has been pushed, with the deadline now being August 11, 9:30pm IST (6pm local time). Phogat was disqualified from the 50kg freestyle wrestling event at the Paris Olympics after being found overweight by 100 grams, and had appealed to claim a joint silver medal. "The ad-hoc division of CAS has extended time till 6pm on August 11, 2024, for the Sole Arbitrator Hon. Dr Annabelle Bennett in the Vinesh Phogat vs. United World Wrestling & the International Olympic Committee to issue a decision," the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) said in a statement.

Reetika Hooda's Olympic journey has come to an end. The Indian wrestler's hopes of a bronze medal through repechage were dashed after Kyrgyzstan's Aiperi Medet Kyzy failed to reach the final. With that, the Indian contingent's Paris Olympics campaign has officially come to an end.

Egypt's Ahmed ElGendy becomes the new men's modern pentathlon champion, smashing the world record in the process. Already the leader going into the Laser Run, ElGendy keeps his advantage at the head of the race to cross the line first. His total score of 1555 points is a new world record. Japan's Sato Taishu grabs silver on 1542 points, with bronze to Giorgio Malan of Italy.

The wait for a resolution on Vinesh Phogat's disqualification case gets longer. The Indian Olympic Association had earlier stated that CAS's decision on Vinesh's appeal will be announced by August 11, but a PTI report has now cited the IOA amending the date to August 13. Phogat was disqualified from the 50kg freestyle wrestling event at the Paris Olympics after being found overweight by 100 grams, and had appealed to claim a joint silver medal.

Norwegian middle- and long-distance runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen has run away with the men's 5,000m title at the Games. In a particularly tactical race, Ingebrigtsen wins gold in 13:13.66. Kenya's Ronald Kewmoi takes silver in 13:15.04, and the bronze medal goes to United States' Grant Fisher in 13:15.13.

She is a true legend of the track and field, and keeps reiterating that with her performances at the big stage. Kenya's Faith Kipyegon has won the women's 1500m gold for the third consecutive time, breaking the Olympic record to boot. Kipyegon clocks a superlative timing of 3:51.29 to leave all else behind. Australia's Jessica Hull secures silver in 3:52.56, and Great Britain's Georgia Bell hangs on for bronze in a British record of 3:52.61. Kipyegon is the first athlete, man or woman, to win the Olympic 1500m three times.

World champion Kitaguchi Haruka of Japan wins the women's javelin throw final with a best effort of 65.80m. Jo-Ane van Wyk unleashes a third-round throw of 63.93m to bag South Africa’s second Olympic silver in the event. Nikola Ogrodnikova of Czechia claims third place with a best throw of 63.68m. The 26-year-old Kitaguchi has become the first Japanese woman to win the javelin throw Olympic gold medal.

Three wrestling gold medals have been decided in quick succession. In the men's freestyle 74kg, Uzbekistan's Razambek Jamalov scores a victory by fall against Japan's Takatani Daichi to win gold. Bronzes go to USA's Kyle Dake and Albania's Chermen Valiev, the latter his country's first Olympic medal.

In the men's freestyle 125kg, gold goes to Geno Petriashvili of Georgia, who wins a narrow 10-9 points victory over Islamic Republic of Iran's Amir Hossein Zare. Bronzes are awarded to Taha Akgul of Turkey and Giorgi Meshvildishvili of Azerbaijan.

And in the women's freestyle 62kg event, Japan's Motoki Sakura wins gold by technical superiority over Ukraine's Iryna Koliadenko. Bronze medals go to Aisuluu Tynybekova (KGZ) and Grace Bullen (NOR).

The United States quartet of Shamier Little, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Gabby Thomas and Alexis Holmes comes within a tenth of a second of the world record, before winning the women's 4x400m relay gold with 3:15.27. Netherlands take silver with a national record 3:19.50, and Great Britain bag bronze in 3:19.72, also a national record.

Over in the men's high jump, New Zealand's Hamish Kerr pips USA's Shelby McEwen in a jump-off to claim gold. The bronze goes to Qatar's Mutaz Barshim, the same athlete was jointly awarded the gold (alongwith Giancarlo Tamberi) in Tokyo 2020.

The first two boxing finals of the evening at Roland Garros have been completed. In the women's 57kg category, Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu-ting takes gold medal over Poland's Julia Szeremeta, while in the men's 57kg, Abdumalik Khalokov of Uzbekistan beats Kyrgyzstan's Munarbek Seiitbek Uulu. Both finals are decided by 5-0 unanimous decisions.

The United States men's basketball caravan rolls on at the Olympics. Stephen Curry scores 24 points and Lebron James too stars, as the USA defeat hosts France 98-87 to win their fifth consecutive Games gold medal. This is Kevin Durant's fourth Olympic gold.

The final two boxing gold medals of the Paris Olympics go to China's Li Qian and Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan. Li beats Panama's Atheyna Bylon on a 4-1 split decision to take the women's 75kg gold. Jalolov returns as super-heavyweight champion with a 5-0 unanimous victory over Ayoub Ghadfa from Spain in the men's +92kg class.

Sweden bag their first medal ever in beach volleyball, and gold at that! David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig claim a straight-sets 21-10, 21-13 win over Germany's Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler in the final. The bronze earlier went to Norway.
