The 26-year-old Kitaguchi has become the first Japanese woman to win the javelin throw Olympic gold medal.

Three wrestling gold medals have been decided in quick succession. In the men's freestyle 74kg, Uzbekistan's Razambek Jamalov scores a victory by fall against Japan's Takatani Daichi to win gold. The final two boxing gold medals of the Paris Olympics go to China's Li Qian and Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan. Li beats Panama's Atheyna Bylon on a 4-1 split decision to take the women's 75kg gold. Jalolov returns as super-heavyweight champion with a 5-0 unanimous victory over Ayoub Ghadfa from Spain in the men's +92kg class.
Men's Beach Volleyball: Sweden Pip Germany In Gold Medal Match
Sweden bag their first medal ever in beach volleyball, and gold at that! David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig claim a straight-sets 21-10, 21-13 win over Germany's Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler in the final. The bronze earlier went to Norway.
