The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written to the Pakistan government seeking for official clearance to travel to India for the ODI World Cup in October.
In the letter addressed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the PCB asked whether the Pakistan cricket team was allowed to travel to their neighbouring country for the showpiece tournament. The letter also sought clarity on whether the government had any reservations about any of the venues assigned to the team for their matches.
The PCB also sought to know if the Pakistani government wished to send a security delegation to inspect the five venues before allowing the players to travel for the grand event.
The country's cricket board also shared the ICC event schedule, highlighting that the team will play 9 matches across 5 stadiums.
"Soon after the World Cup schedule was announced last Tuesday, we wrote to our Patron, Honourable Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, through the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, copying the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior, requesting clearance to participate in the World Cup," the PCB told ESPNcricinfo.
The Pakistan cricket team has not visited India since its participation in the 2016 Men's T20 World Cup.
India are scheduled to play Pakistan on October 15 in Ahmedabad.
