Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden saved seven set points in the first set before defeating Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow to advance to the US Open men's doubles semifinals, their second consecutive appearance in the last four of a Grand Slam this year.

The sixth-seeded Indo-Australian duo defeated the American combo 7-6 (10) 6-1 in the hard court major quarterfinals.

Bopanna and Ebden advanced to the Wimbledon Championships semifinals when they were defeated by Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski.

For the second time in his career, the 43-year-old Indian now has a chance to reach a Grand Slam men's doubles final.

Interestingly, it was only in the US Open that Bopanna competed in his first Major final back in 2010.

The sixth seeds are now up against the French duo of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut, who defeated American Robert Galloway and Frenchman Albano Olivetti in the other quarterfinal.

Bopanna is already out of the mixed doubles competition after losing in the second round to Indonesian partner Aldila Sutjiadi.
