Samson, who has often been criticized for his inability to perform consistently at the highest level, claimed to have understood the 'trick' toward achieving a big ODI score in his post-match interview, stating that the format gives batters more time to adjust and adapt accordingly.
"I think that's the trick," said Samson. "This format gives you some extra time to understand the wicket, [and] understand the bowler. It gives you an extra ten or 20 balls to figure things out."
India captain KL Rahul, too, was complimentary of the Kerala batter, believing him to have capitalised on the rare opportunity that he was provided with.

"He has been a phenomenal performer over the years, and hasn't gotten enough chances for different reasons," said KL Rahul. "There are world-class players [in the Indian side]. Given this opportunity, he capitalised."
Social media, meanwhile, was full of praise for Samson, with accolades coming in from fans all around the country to former India internationals.
India will next play South Africa in the first Test match of the two-game series at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, starting Boxing Day, December 26, 2023.
