Joe Root's 79 and Chris Woakes 4/18 helped England take a 1-0 lead over Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI on Tuesday. Sri Lanka's batting fumbled asked to bat first. Kusal Perera (73) and Wanindu Hasaranga (54) were the top scorer. Only one other batsman Chamika Karunaratne managed to reach double figures with 19 runs. Sri Lanka were bundled out for sub-par 185 in 42.3 overs. Chasing, Sri Lanka bowlers did well to reduce England to 80-4 but Joe Root and Moeen ALi (28) along with Jonny Bairstow (43) helped England complete a facile win.
