The final match of Chennai leg produced the first Super Over of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 as both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals scores 159 on Sunday. SRH batted first in the Super Over and nominated David Warner and Kane Williamson as the batters, while DC opted Axar Patel. The Super Over started with a dot to Warner, then a single. Williamson hit the next ball for a four. Another dot and a leg bye. A double followed to make it 8/0. Or it seemed. During the break, it's revealed that Warner ran one short and the target was revised to 8. DC nominated skipper Rishabh Pant and opener Shikhar Dhawan to take on Rashid Khan. Pant took a single off the first ball, then a leg-bye. A reverse sweep, and a four for Pant. A dot followed with a big shout for LBW. Reviewed and wasted. Another leg bye and run out review. But the DC pair made it.

Earlier, chasing a 160-run target, Hyderabad lost skipper David Warner early in the 4th over thanks to a run out for only six runs. But Jonny Bairstow (38 off 18) and Kane Williamson kept their hopes with two contrasting but equally important knocks even as Axar Patel claimed two wickets in the 17th over. But it was Avesh Khan, who rocked the former champions with a three-wicket haul. Needing 16 in the last over, Kagiso Rabada started with a wide to Williamson, then the Kiwi paddle swept the reload for a four behind the wicket, making it 11 in 5. A bye as Pant let the slower delivery slip between his legs. Then, Jagadeesha Suchith clobbered the next one for a six over deep mid-wicket. 4 in 3. It was followed by two singles to leave 2 off 1. And the first tie of the season. Before that, a rousing 81-run opening stand from Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan helped Delhi Capitals post 159/4 in the 20th match IPL 2021. Opting to bat first in the final match of the Chennai leg, last season's finalists benefitted from many dropped catches and finished strongly with Steve Smith scoring an unbeaten 34 off 25. They scored 43 runs in the last five overs. Shaw got run out after making a fluent 53 off 39. For David Warner's side, Siddarth Kaul was the pick of the bowlers. The pacer claimed two wickets - those of Pant (37 off 27) and Shimron Hetmyer (1 off 2). Rashid Khan got the wicket of Dhawan (28 off 26). Catch highlights and cricket scores of Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Delhi Capitals here.
