Madness in Hyderabad. First shock of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2019-20 was on the cards, but a last-minute goal from Roy Krishna, courtesy horror goalkeeping from Kamaljit Singh, gave two-time champions ATK a point at the GMC Balayogi Stadium on Saturday. All started with horror decision from the referee, who dared point at the spot after the ball hit the chest of Ashish Rai. Krishna gleefully converted, then saw Bobo burying two headers. But that's not enough for Hyderabad FC. The result meant that ATK moved to second spot 15 from nine matches, while Hyderabad are 10th in the ten-team league, with five points from as many games. Entertaining half in Hyderabad with the referee playing his cards in rather controversial fashion. Two contentious decisions, both against the hosts. The hosts have only registered four points from eight fixtures this season, with Phil Brown's outfit having only notched a single point from their last five games. Meanwhile, ATK are third in the standings, with 14 points (off eight matches).
The visitors also have a chance to go on top of the table with a victory.
With the worst defence in the league, Hyderabad have conceded 17 goals in eight matches. Meanwhile, ATK have the best attack with 16 goals. It will a tough task for the home side's backline to handle Roy Krishna and David Williams. Also, Hyderabad's frontline has been abysmal, scoring only seven goals.
Also, the hosts will be aiming for revenge after ATK cruised past them, 5-0 in an earlier fixture.
Ahead of the match, Hyderabad head coach, Phil Brown said, "I think if we look at the first game, we were humiliated that day. As a coach, I will never want that to happen again. That day we weren’t good enough with and without the ball. But now with eight or nine games down the line, we are a different team. We have a different thought process."
"If you consider the league table it is a concern where we are. But we are hoping that in the second half of the season we will do something about it," he added.
Meanwhile, ATK head coach Antonio Habas said, "Three points against Hyderabad is very important. The Goa game is in the past for me. The match will be very very difficult. Hyderabad have good players and a good coach. They are waiting for this game for nine days. In this league, all matches are very competitive. A small decision or a small mistake will turn the scoreline."
