The run-fest continued as Sri Lanka continued to dominate the second Test against Bangladesh in Pallekele. Hosts Sri Lanka managed to score 469/6 in 155.5 overs on a rain-marred Day 2. Dimuth Karunaratne (118) was followed by Lahiru Thirimanne making 140 and Oshada Fernando missing a century and getting out on 81.  Sri Lanka wobbled a bit before Niroshan Dickwella and Ramesh Mendis closed the day batting on 64 and 22 runs, respectively. For Bangladesh it was another field day as bowlers failed to make any inroads.  Taskin Ahmed finished the Day 2 with 3/119. Catch Day 2 highlights of the first SL vs BAN Test match here:

Taskin Ahmed took three wickets to keep Bangladesh's hopes alive in the match, but Sri Lanka surged past 400 runs. At Tea, the hosts were 425/6 (146) with Niroshan Dickwella and Ramesh Mendis unbeaten on 31 and 12 runs respectively. Oshada Fernando departed after scoring 81.

Bangladesh took three quick wickets to fight back against Sri Lanka and take the morning session in Pallekele. Taskin Ahmed removed both Lahiru Thirimanne (140) and Angelo Mathews (5), then Taijul Islam claimed the wicket of Dhananjaya de Silva for 2. One of the overnight batsmen, Oshada Fernando was however batting on 65 with Pathum Nissanka (0) giving him company.
