These 38 teams will be representing their states and are divided into groups of five.

Group C comprises Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Mizoram.
The likes of Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh are placed in Group D.
Group E sees Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Baroda, Goa and Nagaland.
As per the format, each team will face the other side in their group once in a round-robin format. The group winners from the five groups and the best-performing runners-up will then qualify for the Quarter-final, whereas the rest four runners-up will play in the preliminary quarter-finals to take up the last two QF spots.
The tournament got its name from the legendary Indian cricketer Vijay Hazare. Its first season was played out in 2002-03 with Tamil Nadu being named as the inaugural champions. Despite the teams representing their states, there's more attached to it than just playing at the state level. Cricketers have gone to represent India from the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament over the years. This year, the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson among others are the key names playing in the tourney.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 group matches will be played across five different venues - Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Ahmedabad. The knock-out matches and the final will be played at Rajkot.
Saurashtra are the reigning champions of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, after beating Maharashtra by five wickets in 2022.
Here's a closer look at the Vijay Hazare 2023 points table and the latest group standings (updated on December 3).
