Virat Kohli's Instagram Story Angers BCCI Bosses, Indian Cricketers Get 'Verbal' Warning: Report

As per the report, all cricketers present at the Alur camp in Bengaluru, were "verbally" given the guidelines as they prepare to fly out for the Asia Cup 2023.

India's batting superstar Virat Kohli shared his yo-yo fitness score on Thursday via his Instagram story. And by doing so, it has not gone down too well with the BCCI top-brass. The Indian team management has come up with a rigid management and rules for the cricketers just hours after Kohli's Instagram story went viral.

The management has asked the players not to reveal their yo-yo test scores which fall under confidential information, on their social media platforms as per the directive shared by BCCI's top management, as reported in The Indian Express.

As per the report, all cricketers present at the Alur camp in Bengaluru, were "verbally" given the guidelines as they prepare to fly out for the Asia Cup 2023.

Virat's Instagram story showed his fitness score in the yo-yo test that was 17.2. “The happiness of finishing the yo-yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 done,” Kohli wrote. As per the BCCI, the fitness parameter is 16.5.

After the reveal by Kohli on Instagram, the BCCI quickly reminded the cricketers that this revelation on social media could be a 'breach of contract'

“Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying in the report.

The Asia Cup 2023 kickstarts on August 30, with Team India going head-to-head against arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match on September 02.
