Wimbledon 2023: Manas Dhamne Moves Into Second Round Of Boys' Singles

Indian tennis player, Manas Dhamne, competing in the boys' singles competition at Wimbledon moved into the 2nd round with an easy win over 16-year-old Hayden Jones on Sunday.

Dhamne secured a straight-sets win of 6-2, 6-4 in one hour and 13 minutes. He might run into World No. 2 and top-seeded player Juan Carlos Prado Angelo from Bolivia.

Dhamne, who is 15 years old, trains in Italy at the Piatti Tennis Centre. He had defeated Vuk Radjenovic of Serbia 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of qualifying before overcoming Atakan Karahan of Turkey, the 10th seed, in three sets.

It is Dhamne's second junior Grand Slam appearance of the season, having participated in Australian Open, where he was forced to retire in the 2nd round.

As compared to his opponent's 34 unforced errors, Dhamne committed 17 errors and won 88 per cent of his points on first serve.
