India women's winning the U19 trophy reaffirms India's stability at the U19 level with the boys team, too, winning the title last year.
The Shafali Verma-led India U19 team became the first Indian women's side to win an ICC trophy. After winning the toss, India sent England to bat first. Titas Sadhu, the only seam bowler in India's finals team, was exceptional registering figures of 2/6 in her quota of 4 overs, including the wicket of captain Grace Scrivens. Offie Archana Devi did her bit with the ball, and along with leg-spinner Parshavi Chopra, with both bowlers claiming two scalps each while conceding just 30 runs between them. There was no turning back for England, as they lost the first five wickets with just 39 runs on the board. Chasing 69, India lost both openers for 20 runs, as Hannah Baker and Scrivens dismissed, Verma and Shweta Sehrawat respectively. Soumya Tiwari and Gongadi Trisha forged a 46-run partnership ensuring India reached a comfortable total. Tiwari rightfully finished the game, scoring a single off the last ball of the 14th over. Sadhu was adjudged the player of the match.
