Lalit Yadav is a right-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler who represents Delhi in domestic cricket and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Lalit Yadav is a right-handed middle-order batsman known for his ability to play spin well and score runs at a brisk pace. He is also a useful off-break bowler who can provide breakthroughs in the middle overs.

In a T20 match held at Najafgarh Sports Complex, Yadav struck six sixes in an over while representing Sporting Club, amassing 130 runs in just 46 balls, leaving spectators astonished. Prior to this, he accomplished the same feat during the DDCA T20 League at Feroz Shah Kotla. Yadav, a right-handed batter who can also contribute with off-breaks, made his first-class debut in 2017 against Maharashtra, scoring a half-century in the first innings. The subsequent year marked his first List A appearance. Impressively, in his initial four first-class innings, he secured three fifties, showcasing consistency. Following his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy that same year, Yadav became a regular fixture in the Delhi team across all formats. Despite not getting any games in the 2020 Indian T20 League, he was retained and eventually made his debut the following season. Lalit Yadav made his List A debut for Delhi in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy on February 5, 2018, against Uttar Pradesh. In the same season, he made his first-class debut for Delhi in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy on October 6, 2017, against Assam.

During his first-class debut, he scored 52 runs in his first-ever innings as Delhi defeated Maharashtra by innings and 61 runs. He went out to score three half-centuries in his first 4 innings.

Yadav played a crucial role in Delhi's journey to the final of the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy, scoring 295 runs in 6 matches at an average of 32.77 and taking 14 wickets at an average of 25.35. In the semi-final against Bengal, he scored a vital 110 runs in the second innings, helping Delhi secure a place in the final.

In the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, Yadav continued his good form, scoring 504 runs in 8 matches at an average of 63.00, including three centuries and one half-century. He also took 8 wickets at an average of 38.75.

Yadav made his T20 debut for Delhi in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on February 21, 2019, against Jharkhand. In the 2019-20 season, he played a key role in Delhi's campaign, scoring 268 runs in 10 matches at an average of 38.28 and a strike rate of 145.65. He also took 4 wickets at an average of 29.75.

Lalit Yadav was bought by the Delhi Capitals in the 2020 IPL auction for his base price of Rs. 20 lakhs. He made his IPL debut on September 25, 2020, against the Chennai Super Kings, scoring 12 runs off 9 balls. He was handed his match cap by Ricky Ponting. However, he didn't play any part in the COVID hit 2020 season, as Delhi finished runners-up. In 2021, he made his IPL debut and impressed with his bowling as he was used as a utility player over seven matches.

In the 2021 IPL season, Yadav played 7 matches for the Delhi Capitals, scoring 64 runs at an average of 16.00 and a strike rate of 128.00. He also took 1 wicket at an average of 54.00.

While Delhi had to release the all-rounder ahead of the mega auction, they purchased him at the bidding at an increased price following a see-saw battle with Sunrisers Hyderabad. He became an integral part of the franchise for the subsequent season as he played the majority of the game.

In January 2022, Lalit Yadav suffered a thumb injury during a practice session ahead of the Ranji Trophy. The injury ruled him out of the tournament, and he underwent surgery to treat the injury.

Yadav was retained by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2022 IPL auction. In the 2022 season, he played 14 matches, scoring 182 runs at an average of 30.33 and a strike rate of 141.08. He also took 4 wickets at an average of 37.50.

As of March 2023, Lalit Yadav has played 24 first-class matches, scoring 1,331 runs at an average of 41.59, including 4 centuries and 6 half-centuries. He has also taken 30 wickets at an average of 33.53, with a best bowling figure of 4/53.

In List A cricket, Yadav has played 30 matches, scoring 666 runs at an average of 33.30 and a strike rate of 97.36, including 4 half-centuries. He has also taken 13 wickets at an average of 41.61.

In T20 cricket, Yadav has played 64 matches, scoring 859 runs at an average of 24.54 and a strike rate of 134.37, including 3 half-centuries. He has also taken 17 wickets at an average of 31.64.

In the IPL, Lalit Yadav has played 24 matches, scoring 258 runs at an average of 21.50 and a strike rate of 132.30. He has also taken 5 wickets at an average of 43.20.

Between November 17 - 19, 2017, Delhi made their first-class debut against Maharashtra in a match held in Delhi. Their last first-class match occurred against Hyderabad from January 24 - 27, 2023, held in Hyderabad.

In the realm of List A matches, Delhi debuted against Himachal in Nadaun on February 15, 2018. Their most recent List A match was against Haryana in Ahmedabad on December 01, 2023.
