Bora Bora is an island in the Leeward group of the Society Islands of French Polynesia. The only international airport in French Polynesia, the Faa’a International Airport, is located in capital Papeete (located in the island of Tahiti).
There are no direct flights to Papeete from India. You have to take a combination of flights. Just to give an idea, a combination of the cheapest flights available costs Rs 2.6 lakhs plus from Delhi, Rs 2.7 lakhs plus from Bengaluru and Rs 3 lakhs plus from Mumbai. Check www.skyscanner.co.in for the latest fare.
From Papeete, you have to take a domestic Air Tahiti flight to reach Bora Bora, which takes around 50 minutes. It costs Rs 22,000 plus.
The island’s economy is solely driven by aqua-centric luxury tourism. Most resorts are located on their own tiny islands and you will be taken to the resort in boats. Over-the-water cottages and rooms are a great favourite. Rooms start from Rs 10,000 plus and can go up to Rs 60,000 plus. The mid-range hotels cost around Rs 28,000 plus.
