Come April 16 and guests will be privy to an exotic Easter feast at the famous 1911 restaurant at the heritage hotel. A grand mix of the traditional and healthy, Executive Chef of The Imperial Prem K Pogakula has put together a buffet which has something for everyone. The range moves between all kinds of meats such as chicken, duck, mutton, seafood and veggies. To give an idea of what the guests can dig into, we enjoyed duck confit with orange brioche, green asparagus, shaved pecorino, truffle salsa, roasted beer chicken, spinach and salmon strudel, fennel and orange braised pork belly, cinnamon and honey roast pork loin, stuffed chicken roulade, seafood paella, château potatoes, baked rigatoni, quinoa and polenta steaks, ratatouille and more.
Elaborating on the menu, Chef Pogakula says, “The menu is different every Easter but we always continue offering traditional and the most loved specialties every year. It is mostly classic flavours with a twist to some dishes for an exclusive fair. Coming to selecting the menu I always work towards curating an experience featuring rural cooking and cuisine rather than a typical urban spread. I strongly believe that the original flavors and authenticity lie in rural or countryside food.”
And the Chef and his team are bound to be around should anyone need kind of assistance. “For special orders specifically we have some exclusive carving stations, pleasing palates with hot roasts and grills,” smiles the Chef.
With country music filling the restaurant, what we do recommend is to begin with the beetroot and barley and thyme soup. Of course, there are many kinds of salads such as the Imperial cobb salad, eggplant mille feuille with tomato and olive and more. But the unmissable is the flambéed baba au rum which the Chef prepared it himself. The cake mingled with the cognac and rum is possibly the best way to end this feast.
For those, who want to take the traditional Easter bunnies and eggs home, there are goodies at La Baguette.
