Cool in more ways than one, is rock­sresort, LAAX in Switzerland (rocksresort.com), being a zero-waste 122 room ski retreat. The whole mountain is powered by hydroelectricity, solar pan­els and biomass heating. This winter, they replace their 30-year-old chairlift and sell the old ones to aid Nepal’s earthquake victims. Nice, right?
