Switzerland’s historic and prestigious wrestling event, Brünigschwinget, is said to be more than a hundred years old. Around 130 participants will wrestle in an open-air arena on the summit of the Brünig Pass, situated between Bern and Obwalden. The winner is crowned the Schwinger-König.
People belonging to the various cantons, dressed in their traditional costumes, take part in the National Costume Festival. Held at Männlichen, in the Swiss Alps, the costume parade is accompanied by authentic folklore music. Cultural performances include dancing in national costume, yodeling duets, an alphorn trio, traditional Swiss flag throwing and whip cracking.
