The Rajasthan International Folk Festival will be held at the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, from October 23-27, 2015. Jodhpur RIFF is a not-for-profit partnership project between Mehrangarh Museum Trust and Jaipur Virasat Foundation. UNESCO has endorsed the festival as a “Peoples’ Platform for Creativity and Sustainable Development.” According to the organisers, ‘Timed to coincide with Sharad Purnima or the brightest full moon of the year in north India, the festival features a series of spectacular concerts and events’. The festival sees a variety of programmes, such as folk dance by the artists in the Mehrangarh museum, interactive sessions with the custodians of culture, workshops, early morning musical programmes at the Jaswant Thada, stage performance by artists from home and abroad, etc. There will also be a special Children’s Folk Morning on October 26, with performances like traditional circus, string puppetry, dummy horse, bahurupiya, etc. There are separate tickets for most events.
