It’s the last place you might have imagined listed in Airbnb. But now you could choose to stay in Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Arles, France. Almost. The Art Institute of Chicago has recreated the room and put it up for rent on Airbnb for just $10. “This room will make you feel like you’re living in a painting,” the ad on Airbnb says. “It’s decorated in a Post-Impressionist style, reminiscent of Southern France and times gone by. Its furniture, bright colors, and artwork will give you the experience of a lifetime.” The Institute is hosting an exhibition, Van Gogh’s Bedrooms, from February 14 through May 10, which focusses on three paintings Van Gogh created of the room in Arles between 1888 and 1889. As expected, availability is tight for the Airbnb room, so the museum is taking bookings in blocks that it’s announcing via Twitter and Facebook. There’s also a to-scale replica of the bedroom within the exhibition.
