Boryeong town, about 200km south of Seoul, South Korea, is known for its mudflats. The mud is said to contain minerals and other natural chemicals and is thus used to manufacture special cosmetics. The Boryeong Mud Festival was begun in 1998 to promote the use of this special mud-based cosmetics, and it turned into an annual festival. attracting tourists from all over the world. Truckloads of the mud are brought from the mudflats and poured at the Daecheon beach area. You can take mud baths and mud massages or participate in events such as mud mob scene, mud air bounce, mud skincare contests, mud rock festival, academic seminars, etc.
