Train travel is not the same anymore. In news that’s going to gladden no one’s hearts, the Railway Ministry has introduced a flexi fare system which will make tickets for the Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi trains much more expensive. Flexible fare means that the fare can be changed multiple times till the departure time. According to the new rules, just the first 10% of tickets for any train will be sold at the normal fare. Thereafter, the fares will see a 50% surge. The new pricing policy, however, does not apply for 1AC and Sleeper classes. There are some other additional rules as well: berths that have remained empty when charts are made will be sold at the surge price and tatkal fares will be an insane 150% of the base fare!
