Golden Tulip is the newest addition to the clutch of business hotels coming up on the eastern fringe of Kolkata in Salt Lake. Situated in a very compact plot, the hotel has 8 floors, with an open air lounge and a jacuzzi pool on the top-most floor offering a sweeping view of the Kolkata skyline. Golden Tulip’s general décor is low-key, the colour scheme a mix of chrome and white. Rooms are arranged on either side of narrow passages which feature framed 3-D paintings and spherical mirrors on the walls. You can take your pick from deluxe and executive rooms, as well as suites. The Club Suite rooms have a living/dining area complementing the bedroom. Depending on your room, facilities may differ but some of the basic facilities include a king-sized bed, satellite television, a tea/coffee maker, a mini-bar, a direct-dial phone, and free wi-fi. Anti-Pasti, the multi-cuisine 24×7 restaurant on the third floor is spacious and has plenty of natural light. You can also drop in for lunch and dinner. The a-la-carte menu is quite elaborate and includes dishes from Indian, Mughlai, Continental and Oriental cuisines. The Gold Finch meeting rooms are airy and spacious, and can cater up to 300 people. Developed by the Kolkata-based businessman Ashish Mittal, who also owns two hotels in Goa, the 55-room hotel is a part of the Louvre Hotels Group, which owns 11,000 hotels across 7 brands in over 47 countries. The hotel opened on May 7 this year, and given the fact that it’s fully booked till about September means that Golden Tulip has certainly been a success, at least initially.
