The very best and the very latest of contemporary visual theatre come together again for the 2016 edition of the London International Mime Festival. An annual celebration of cutting-edge circus-theatre, live animation and puppetry, mask, physical and visual theatre, this year’s exceptional line-up features 18 companies from eight countries (plus Britain, of course) delivering 112 performances over 29 days—and nearly all of them are UK or London premieres. Classy venues include the Barbican, The Peacock, Shaw Theatre, and for the first time, the Tate Modern. Highlights include the physical comedy, Marcel, a ‘tender and witty exploration of how to get round ageing’, and the Art of Laughter, which proves that the right conditions can make it impossible not to laugh
