Located in the eastern part of Myanmar, the state of Kayah is marked by hills and rivers and is home to several ethnic communities. Myanmar Tourism (tourismmyanmar.org) has recently opened this corner of the country under its Responsible Tourism Policy. Close to the Thai border and the famous Inle Lake, visitors can participate in cultural exchanges and experience village life here. Guests can follow the trail of the ancestors with local villagers acting as guides and sample local cuisine at a jungle picnic.
