Imagine a good part of the world—complete with monuments, attractions and well-known buildings, streets and Lilliputian figurines—made to fit in an area about the size of a small New York City block. Gulliver’s Gate is the city’s new $40 million attraction and it contains landmark attractions from 50 nations. Located in the iconic Times Square, the 49,000 sq ft exhibit allows you to experience everything from Iguazú Falls in Argentina to our Taj Mahal. These miniatures have also been made as interactive as possible—for instance, in the London section, the visitors can enjoy The Beatles in an outdoor stadium representing the city’s concert culture. Using the same scale that model railroading usually uses (the HO scale or 1/87th the size of the original structure) and with every human figurine about 0.8 inches tall, there’s great detailing and some surprises for those with a keener eye. Eiran Gazit, President & CEO of ‘Gulliver’s Gate’, who presided over the similar 14-acre ‘Mini Israel’, has worked on the project for over four years. Tickets for adults: $36; open all seven days from 9am to 10pm; see gulliversgate.com.
