All Emirates flights from Dubai International Airport to Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar, Pakistan, have been suspended for security reasons after the airport attack, effective from June 25, 2014. Passengers booked for travel during June 25-27 could cancel their booking and re-book for a later date or for another Emirates destination in Pakistan. Further updates would be made available on its website (emirates.com), said an airline spokesperson.
The decision was taken after the inbound Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-756 from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was fired upon by terrorists on June 25 just above the Bacha Khan runway, leading to one woman’s death. The spokesperson said that the decision was taken keeping in mind the safety of passengers and Emirates staff.
