The 2-day Udaipur World Music Festival promises a fantastic line-up of over a hundred global artistes and ensembles from more than a dozen countries. This includes Carminho, one of Portugal’s most popular fado singers, performing in India for the first time; a collaboration between French composer Mathias Duplessy and Rajasthani Mirasi vocalist Mukhtiyar Ali; Dobet Gnahore, the Grammy awardee from the Ivory Coast; flamenco by Spain’s Juanma Zurano and Tamara (the festival coincides with 60 years of the diplomatic relations between Spain and India); and rock fusion by the Raghu Dixit Project. There’s Udaipur, of course, as the enchanting backdrop (13-14 February; entry free; afternoon sessions at Fateh Sagar Pal and evening sessions at the Railway Institute Grounds; find them on Facebook).
