It’s never very hard to find reasons to visit Singapore. But with extra blandishments… Coming up: a three-month-long sale offering deep discounts; a food festival showcasing the best of local cuisines; and one of the world’s biggest electronic dance music festivals. From June onward the Lion City will be hosting The Great Singapore Sale (Jun 9–Aug 13). Shop at malls, smaller outlets or shopping streets—there’ll be discounts everywhere you look. Quality fashion, electronics and jewellery at cheap prices, reasonably priced spa treatments and even budget spending on city tours, musical events and visits to local attractions.

Speaking of musical events, the Ultra Music Festival will be held on 10–11 June. The extravaganza features a line-up of some of the best DJs in the world including Hardwell, Tiësto and Nicky Romero (tickets from US$115 per person; ultrasingapore.com).

Finally, in this city of pretty uniformly excellent food, a special treat: the 17-day long Singapore Food Festival (July 14–30). Sample traditional Singaporean cuisine, contemporary fusion dishes and every other flavour you can think of. The main event is STREAT, where hawkers and big chefs alike will serve some of their newest and best dishes. See facebook.com/streatsg.
