Conventional wisdom may have resulted in national governments around the world issuing advisories against travel to Syria currently, yet there has for long been a band of brothers eager to catch a glimpse of the action up close. A Russian travel company, perhaps taking advantage of the renewed bonhomie between the Putin and Assad regimes, wants to sell tours to the frontline of the Syrian civil war. Megapolis Kurort has applied for the registration of the ‘Assad Tour’ trademark. Tourists will be able to take the ‘Assad Tour’ from 2016, providing them a glimpse of the epicentre of global jihadism. At a mere $2,000, including airfare (presumably, from Moscow), and stay, war voyeurs can well, see whatever is up for show at that moment. Warzone tourism is not new, even for Syria, as an Israeli company offers tours to the Israeli-Syrian border already!
