Thailand launched its highly anticipated six-month multiple-entry tourist visa (METV) on November 13. In a move that makes the immensely popular tourist haven even more appealing to frequent visitors or weekend/short-trip vacationers, the 5,000 baht visa (about `9,250) allows multiple entries for periods of up to 60 days over a six-month period. To be eligible, Indian travellers applying for the METV must have a passport that’s valid for at least 12 months, possess minimum funds of `4 lakh, and have the intention to travel to Thailand at least twice over the six-month period. The METV is not an on-arrival visa; applications have to be made to the Royal Thai Consulate, which may take two days to process the request.
