The famous New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, held at the Fair Grounds Race Course, is all set for its 47th edition. The annual music and cultural festival (April 22 to May 1) celebrates the indigenous music and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana. From Jazz to Cajun music, this festival is paradise for all music lovers. Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder and Snoop Dog, among many others, will be performing this year. The week-long festival will pay tribute to songwriter and composer Allen Toussaint, the great star of New Orleans music. Visual art installations, sculptures and a food heritage stage are the other attractions of the event. Established in 1970, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Foundation (www.jazzandheritage.org, www.nojazzfest.com) is a non-profit organization. The organization was set up to preserve the unique culture of New Orleans and uses the festival’s revenues to boost the local economy and help fund education and culture in the area.
