The folks perched above the Wise Owl café made a wise choice with this venture. Owners of local ‘Chinese’ favourite Krystal Chopsticks in Hindustan Park and our beloved Bengali eatery Tero Parbon, they have capitalized on their location just beyond the Golpark parking disaster zone, in the heart of ‘posh’ but notoriously hospitality-deficient South Calcutta, with the shockingly affordable 66/2B, The Guest House. It’s not high on style, for sure, but is what a bhadralok would dub ‘neat and clean’ — no mean feat in this exhaust-throttled borough of joy. The eats from their eateries are certainly good, but you can (buy and) bring your own too. Tariff: Rs 1,700–2,600, with free wi-fi. Contact: 033-24646422, 662btheguesthouse.com
