It isn’t the most reassuring approach, past the eponymous travel agent, gift shop and ‘export house’ in the Paharganj bazaar. But for a savvy traveller whose main concerns are easy metro access (walking distance) and proximity to the railway station (5 minutes) on a budget, these are some of the most comfortable beds in the area, in reasonably clean rooms. One keeps expectations low here — you need to call the 24-hour front desk for hot water to be turned on; wifi and TV reception can be spotty; but it has (slow) room service. If your idea of Continental food isn’t ambitiously modern, you should enjoy the rooftop eatery and ‘German bakery’ breads; the Indian fare is indifferent. Tariff: Rs 900–1,200.
