Dadhikar Fort: A royal retreat

This 1,100-year-old fort, strategically set at a 100ft elevation just 7km outside Alwar, offers a tranquil retreat and sweeping vistas of the surrounding countryside. The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished, the service warm and unaffected. The Rajasthani fare at the restaurant, Akshyabatloi, is so good you won’t mind that it’s pure veg. No annoying phones or TVs in rooms either. If you get restless, tramp over to admire the primitive rock cave paintings just 2km away. The Sariska sanctuary is nearby.
