For a charming stay in Bharatpur

Chandra Mahal Haveli, though a heritage hotel, is not behind on mod cons

For a charming stay in Bharatpur

Hospitality that promises you the moon and the stars — and pretty much delivers — is the main reason to go stay in this small property near Bharatpur (25km), in a nondescript village called Pahersar. The second reason has to be the food — the chef is ex-ITC, the guests multinational; so the buffet-only restaurant really dishes up Indian cuisine with a deft, subtle hand. Final reason: the rooms, of which there are only eleven. The four suites on the first floor include private terraces and courtyards with jacuzzis. All bathrooms are plush and spacious. The décor is understated but charmingly ethnic. And despite the heritage status — the original Persian-inflected building dates to the 1840s — there are heat convectors available in winter. A pretty blue pool occupies the inner courtyard of this white pearl of a haveli, behind a modest façade. Tariff Rs 8,500 (rooms) and Rs 10,000 (suites) Contact 011-25066241, amritara.co.in
