Satinder Garcha is an India-origin entrepreneur, realtor, bon vivant, polo player, documenary filmmaker and now hotelier, who calls Singapore home. His quirky Vagabond Hotel on Syed Alwi Road (just down from Mustafa Centre) breaks every rule in the book. The 42-room hotel is the first and only hotel in Asia to feature interiors by the celebrated French designer Jacques Garcia, known for his over-the-top style. Garcia is best known for his design of Hotel Costes in Paris, Hotel Danieli in Venice, and the Nomad in New York. The restaurant, 5th Quarter, serves offal plated to look like works of art. The hotel boasts a Salon designed to immerse guests in the theatre of art, food, drink and conversation. There’s also an Artist in Residence programme. From SGD 210; hotelvagabondsingapore.com.
