The Tamara Kodai is the latest luxury heritage hotel that’s opened in the country and it’s a treat for the eyes. The second luxury property from Tamara Leisure Experiences, the hotel offers patrons a perfect mix of heritage and luxe experiences.
In The Tamara Kodai, 53 suites will be available for guests. Each suite boasts of a bedroom with a large balcony, living room, and an attached bathroom. The suites have been designed to give guests a taste of what the time when La Providence was a monastic retreat. Each suite has wooden floors, colonial interiors, room heaters, exhaustive in-room amenities, complimentary high-speed internet, LED TV with satellite channels, and of course 24-hour room service.
The gastronomic outlets available include an all-day dining restaurant and a French style bistro, to cater to all kinds of taste. La Providence has been designed in the original building and converted to a decadent restaurant. A lavish buffet includes international favourites and local cuisine. The restaurant also features a live kitchen counter. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it offers a buffet spread as well as an à la carte menu. Bistro 1845 is a French style à la carte bistro and bar, serving the best of European, Asian and Indian cuisine. With cosy settings both indoors and outdoors, this vintage-themed resto-bar is sure to take you back in time.
The Levinge Lounge has Kodaikanal’s only temperature-controlled pool and bar. The pool itself is 40 ft in length with a kids area of a lower depth on one end. Set at the highest vantage point on the property, the Levinge Lounge overlooks a heart-stopping view of the valley below, ideal for some post-swim rest and relaxation.
The property also offers boardroom and conference facilities which include a Ball Room that can accommodate more than 200 guests. There’s also a spacious pre-function area. Wellness facilities include the Elevation Spa and Fitness Centre.

Getting there: The closest airports to Kodaikanal are Trichy 150 km, Madurai 120 km and Coimbatore 175 km. There are regular flights from New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Trichy to these airports. Once you land, hire a cab or take a train to reach Kodaikanal. The nearest railway station is at Kodai, 100 km away.
