Forest Retreat

After their successful Bagh Van in Pench (now a Taj-CC Africa property), Wild India Camps have opened a second wildlife lodge; this time, they have turned to a reserve that is not quite on the tourist circuit — the Satpura Tiger Reserve. Located in Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh, within easy distance of the park’s boundary, Forsyth’s Satpura will also attract visitors for its own sake — the 12 cottages are done up in elegant taste and the mud construction bears out its commitment to using local materials. After a recent ‘soft launch’, the lodge is open at discounted rates till June 30 (Rs 8,000 per person). When the park reopens after the monsoon, so will Forsyth’s Satpura at the full rate of Rs 12,000 per person. Includes full board, laundry, safaris and wilderness walks. See http://forsythlodge.com.
