The most thriving bazaar in Jayaaji Chowk, or Maharaj Bada, is the Sarafa Bazaar in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. There are marketplaces around this chowk, but the most popular is Sarafa Bazaar. This market is particularly known for its handicrafts, jewellery, and handloom items. The exclusive Gwalior culture is reflected in all the items displayed in the shops at the bazaar. But that’s not all! This place is also a haven for foodies.

You will find yourself engulfed by loads of snacking options. There vendors selling street food items who have been in the business for decades. You can head to Manoj Aggarwal’s shop to savour some of the signature Indian snacks especially aaloo ki tikki and gol gappas. Manoj’s father used to run the business before him.

After relishing the tikki you might want to soothe your stomach. So head straightway to Jay Agarwal’s shop and grab a bite of melt-in-the-mouth dahi bhalla. Jay is the third generation from his family to serve here. If you are in the mood to experiment then head to Dhiraj Shivhare’s stall, a local, who believes in experimenting with food. You might not take Dhiraj’s claims that he makes the best tomato soup in the whole city, but after tasting the soup you might want to change the opinion. You can also try the amazing sandwiches at his shop which he makes with 6 vegetables, 2 fruits, pasta, and paneer. And to finish your little food safari you can head to Vijay Jain’s shop and enjoy kulfi to satisfy your sweet tooth.
