Saudi Arabia's AlUla Earns Prestigious Dark Sky Certification; Here's Where To Go Stargazing

The ancient oasis city of AlUla has recently been awarded the prestigious International Dark Sky Park Certification, recognising its pristine night skies as among the top 5 per cent of dark sky quality locations globally for stargazing and astro-tourism. The International Dark Sky Places (IDSP) Programme, established in 2001, aims to promote the preservation and protection of dark sites by encouraging communities, parks, and protected areas worldwide to implement responsible lighting policies and engage in public education efforts. This award-winning programme recognises and supports locations committed to minimising light pollution and safeguarding the beauty of the night sky for current and future generations. In 2007, the Mont Mégantic Observatory in Quebec became the first site certified as an International Dark Sky Reserve by Dark Sky.
