The Sham Valley Trek is one of the most accessible and beginner-friendly treks in Ladakh. Nestled in the lower reaches of Ladakh, this trek offers a combination of cultural immersion, natural beauty, and easy trekking paths, making it ideal for novice trekkers and families. Located 75 km from Leh, the trek spans charming villages, monasteries, and green fields, all set against the dramatic backdrop of Ladakh’s arid mountains.

This one of the best beginner-friendly treks in Ladakh typically takes 3-4 days to complete, covering a distance of around 30-32 km. The elevation ranges between 3,500 and 4,200 meters, which is relatively moderate compared to some of the higher-altitude treks in Ladakh. This trek is considered easy to moderate in difficulty, making it suitable for those new to high-altitude trekking. However, even though the trek is easy, spending a few days in Leh acclimatising to the altitude before starting the trek is essential.
